Nice to hear that there will be an ongoing effort to develop and
improve the web interface.  This could be an opportune moment to throw
in that the people from Wikimedia are looking for a Mediawiki
extension that can handle 3D files to be able to upload them to
Wikimedia Commons and embed them in Wikipedia (same as already happens
with pictures, videos, audio, svg, etc).

For the beginning just 3D viewing is OK, but in the future they want
to create and edit geometries, compare changes, maybe generate
animations, ....  Running BRL-CAD on a server with a web interface
could be a candidate for such a (full open source) tool.
