People could then create 3rd party programs which depend on the Hurd and run on every GNU/Linux distribution out there. Reasons for switching from GNU/Hurd/Linux to a Hurd without Linux could then be * have a cleaner system or * go GPLv3. Maybe also * „Linux gets pushed into directions I don’t like“.
