I think it would take up too much time and cause confusion to teach two different methods of email. You do raise a good point about the disadvantage of webmail, however--they will have to be online the entire time they are writing their email, which could be frustrating on dialup. But, I think the advantages of being able to use it at school and in the Byteworks classroom outweigh that.
I'd like to get more opinions on @gmail.com vs. @bworks.org email addresses. I don't really have much of an opinion either way. --- In [email protected], Jerry Hubbard <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Robert Citek wrote: > > > > > On Jun 25, 2006, at 11:26 AM, tms wrote: > > > Question: have we arrived at a decision regarding the kids' email? > > > If we're going web-based gmail, then we don't need a toolbar link > > > to any POP3 email client. > > > > The questions are ... > > 1) Should ByteWorks hand out e-mail addresses with the domain name > > @bworks.org to the kids? > > 2) If so, how should we assign e-mail address names? > > > > Currently, the kids get dial-up access with an e-mail account from > > the city (CIN).
