For one thing, that's about twice the download size. Not only does the
repo currently have both sparc and x86, it duplicates what's already on
the CD. It also turns what could be a simple one-step process into
multiple steps.

It's also download only at the moment. While restricting the download
live image to a CD is good (and increases the size of the audience who
can burn it to media), that constraint doesn't really apply to physical
media, where using a DVD would be far more user firendly.

Having a single DVD that you just pop into a box and select the "I want
KDE" or whatever option and letting it do it's own thing for a while. (And
you really want software selection rather than just dumping the whole
DVD on a user whether they want it or not.)
