The easy answer is: Resources are not infinite. Plain and simple.
While the effort to produce such a thing isn't exactly the toughest
thing in the world, it would still require some thought and actual work.
The cost isn't zero. And to be quite honest, the team(s) working on
OpenSolaris that would produce such a thing are eyeballs deep working on
all kinds of other things (projects in the install space alone are going
to take a very long time to finish implementing to get back to a level
of parity with the legacy install tools found in Solaris 10 for
instance). So taking on non-zero cost initiatives right now just isn't
possible.

There's also the bit about OpenSolaris being a community project. The
tools are available for interested individuals to be able to produce
such a thing if they wish. Someone just needs to step up to the plate
and do the work. Waiting on Sun to implement everything anyone could
ever want is only going to lead to disappointment. There's no shortage
of requests for things people would like to see available, unfortunately
there isn't a whole lot of bodies willing to actually do the work
outside of Sun it seems.

We may at some point (don't take this for anything more than guessing on
my part) produce such a piece of media. You can either wait for it
however long it takes us to get around to it or step up (or gather
together other likeminded people) and do the work to create it,
contribute it to the community and everyone wins.

Cheers,
