That's interesting. Do you have any examples?
Though when I look at the credits for Doom 3 and John Carmack isn't listed as
a programmer (though he is listed as "technical director"), I become more skeptical,
because you know that the engine for Doom 3 was most likely at least heavily optimized
by him.
