This is purely a personal safety issue and should be left to the individual.
Legislation is not neccesary.

Fair enough, but bear in mind the increased likelyhood of "vhf assisted
collisions" means overall safety will not necessarily be increased.
It is somewhere in the colregs or similar that due to the risk of
misidentification, VHF should not be used as a substitute for the colregs.

I am completely opposed to this, there is no evidence it would make any
difference. A large number of gross incompetence incidents in the sailing
world involve certificated idiots.
