I wondered whether to react but feel I must. My contributions to this thread have been intended to be helpful. I referred to my own single-handed trip on DC simply to give an idea of what can be achieved from the Warwick base if and only if the object is to do as much boating as possible in the time available. I didn't at any time suggest that the OPs should do the same. Indeed my suggestions for a route for them were deliberately conservative. I didn't suggest a trip to Oxford but merely one on the S oxford as a pleasant route avoiding Hatton with several options as to where to turn for home.
I certainly wasn't making a big thing of my own trip. If others have also posted their trip times for similar runs it's no doubt to also show what can be achieved with long days and a clear road. I suspect it's more the general thread drift that happens from time to time. After 2 posts most people lose sight of what the original thread was about don't they :-)} Cheers Guy -- Guy Morgan nb Virgo, WFB, Stockton GU Defend the waterways.
