show Last night we had a firework display and laser on the far side of
the Washes.
This morning we woke in sunshine to the sound of the rowers, however
before long it was tipping it down so we didn't make a great effort to
get ready to move. We finally set off at 10 am after the rain for the
day had finished.
It stayed fine and sunny but the wind freshened as the day progressed
which made boat handling at times "interesting". Today was a day for
wildlife with 6 Kingfishers being spotted, a large grass snake in one
lock and an eel in another, the final wildlife was a group of kids
swimming in Higgham Lock, they vacated it as we arrived and got dressed,
they then helped Diana with the lock gates and one asked me if I could
oblige him with a glass of water, which I did. However their language
was something else.
We moored for the night at the EA 48hr moorings at Irthlingbourough
where we availed ourselves of a free pumpout provided by the EA
