Harnser's present position March

We set off at 9 am with only 6 miles to Denver and an expected locking
time of 1130 We arrived just after half ten to find a cruiser in the
lock, 2 cruisers outside waiting and a narrowboat behind them, we pulled
along side the narrowboat to be told there were 2 more narrowboats on
the other side waiting as well, not only that but the tide was higher
than expected due to the wind. The boat in the lock was going to Kings
Lynn and locked out as soon as the water was low enough for his cabin
top to clear the gate, we however had to wait for headroom under
Salter's Lode lock bridge. About 12 o'clock the two cruisers entered
the lock at which point the two narrowboats shot across the cut to make
sure I didn't jump the queue. We cleared off to the other side and
waited until a couple of them had gone before coming back to the lock
moorings. It was 2 pm before we managed to lock into Salter's Lode by
which time the tide had slowed down no end making the turn easier and
the lock only had to drop a couple of inches to let us out onto the
Middle Level. We made surprisingly good time to Outwell where the boat
before us had stopped, then onto the Basin where the next had moored, we
fond the third tucked up by Upwell Church and we continued on to Marmont
Lock, arriving just as a boat had come up putting the lock in our favour.
We then continued on to the first lot of town moorings in March where we
found the 2 cruisers moored with just enough room behind them for us to
get in and tie up at about 6 pm.
