Date - 27/07/08 Day - Sunday Start - 0845 End - 1600 Harnser's present position
A little before 7am. I heared what I thought was a boat coming up but when I looked out it was an EA Landrover on the bridge, about half eight the chap from EA came over and said the lock was fully operational now. Later in the day we met up with the boat that reported the top hoop was snapped on the top gate and he was unable to close it. This was at 8pm on Saturday night when he reported it So within 12 hours overnight of being reported it was repaired and, back in service. 8 45am and we put a line onto Shirian and started towing her to Lower Ringstead. It was strange but after loosing his prop the nut and splitpin were still in place on the shaft. We dropped him off at about 10-30 am and continued on upstream. At lots of the locks we found children swimming in the locks but at no time did we have any problem with them. I tried to wind by the sanitation point at Irthlingbourough but it wasn't wide enough but it was here that I first uncounted the blanket weed, we hadn't seen any on the way down but now the lock cuts in some spots were full of it even though the river sections were clear. We have moored for the night just above White Mills Lock on the side of the field. -- Brian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Join SOW and help save our waterways http://www.saveourwaterways.org
