Date - 28/07/08 Day - Monday Start - Just above White Mills Lock End - Grand Union Canal, Gayton
Harnser's present position http://tinyurl.com/harnser-28 We set of at 0845 hrs to another sunny morning. We caught up with the boat we had been sharing with yesterday at Cogenhoe lock and they said they would wait for us at the next, from there we shared all the locks to Northampton where we both stopped for lunch. We had a slight problem at Weston Favell lock when we lost reverse, but this was only due to a linkage slip. After lunch just as we were about to leave when the boat we had been sharing with left so we gave them a bit of time and followed on ourselves. We turned up the Northampton Arm and obviously all the locks were against us, we did meet one boat but that was in a long pound and obviously they had met the other boat in the same pound as the next lock was also against us. When we reached Rotherthorp flight the boat in front back set all the locks for us as they went, this proved a great saving for us just walking forward and opening the bottom gates of the next lock. Unfortunately we never caught up with the other boat to thank them. At lock number three it went quite overcast and started to rain in big sploges but it only lasted a few seconds. Once at Arm End Junction we turned right onto the GU canal and continued on past the BW long term mooring through bridge 47 to moor for the night at 1830 hrs. -- Brian <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Join SOW and help save our waterways http://www.saveourwaterways.org
