When I have been to the turning point before the tunnel, there have been always
beed several boats during the day arriving but also are unable to get through
the tunnel

When the canal is extended onto Utoxeter, this 'bottleneck' will have to be
tackled both at the planning stage to ensure boats, and hence usage can be
projected for the value the canal will bring to the valley and that the
majority of the boats can pass through the tunnel

Two solutions: dig out the tunnel and bridge the road across the canal or, I
suspect the preferred, build a small fall lock and lower the bed of the canal
