Last time (in September a year or two back) we worked out we were the only boat moving on the Caldon beyond Cheddleton. Leaving a few days later we met one just by the sewage works and told them they were now alone. A bit later they overtook us moored as 'we don't like to be alone in case something goes wrong'. Of course we like being the only one - you can still do this on the fens but not often on the narrow canals!

The original link has an extra full-stop at the end (which is not needed). We haven't been on the Caldon for ages. I wonder if a lack of boats is just due to the fact that it is the end of the line and not a through route. That doesn't explain why people who go through the tunnel don't use the basin, though.
