If the cill of the bottom lock of the cauldon where lowered 6inchs it would make a massive difference to the airdraft available.
We went down into the basin before winding, but as it where mid-day and we where busy boating we didnt stop. I would happily stop the night, or if i where weekending it, leave the boat there for a fortnight between weekend trips. However we very rairly stop anywhere more than a night. Other than the surrounding countryside, im also not really aware of a reason to stop, if that doesnt sound rude. Im not aware of a neary by pub, or good day activity in the area? Short of walking/riding towards uttoxeter for a day at Alton Tower? Prehaps a map of how to get there from the basin would be in order, its not a long walk.
