I still believe Dr. Gdert's and Dr. Antas' intentions (and their sometimes
uncomfortable comments) are meant for good.
It's a physician's habit to first portray the worst case scenario to the
patient and then tell him "well, I'm happy to inform you that you do not
have cancer, just a very ugly looking mole". If it were the other way
around (sorry, I gave you treatment for a mole when in fact it was cancer)
the doctor would probably be sued or downcast...

I do see a problem with Care2x in the fact that Elpidio is single-handedly
testing every code submission. I do not doubt Elpidio's capabilities. My
question is: why use "wetware" when there are better ways to develop and
test those code submissions?

Every problem should be presented with at least two possible solutions (in
this case, on how to balance the workload).
Elpidio, have you considered using software with test/report and dashboard
functionalities such as DART? As pulled from their home page:

DART is an open-source, distributed, software quality system. Dart allows
software projects to be tested at multiple sites in multiple configurations
(hardware, operating systems, compilers, etc.). Results from a build/test
sequence are transmitted to a central server using standard internet
protocols...
DART's goals:
Develop a cross-platform tool to perform automated builds and tests
Distribute testing across multiple computers at multiple sites
Produce summary dashboards
Correlate results from different configurations or across time
Allow experimental builds and continuous builds to be summarized with
"nightly" testing
Allow anyone to test a software project
Allow anyone to view the current state of the system

Care2x would probably also benefit from CMake. This excerpt was also taken
from their home page.
CMake, the cross-platform, open-source make system. CMake is used to control
the software compilation process using simple platform and compiler
independent configuration files. CMake generates native makefiles and
workspaces that can be used in the compiler environment of your choice.
CMake is quite sophisticated: it is possible to support complex environments
requiring system configuration, pre-processor generation, code generation,
and template instantiation

If you would like to see these tools in action, please check the current
dashboard for ITK.

I have a video synched with powerpoint of Dr. Michael Ackerman (Father of
the Visible Human Project at NLM) giving a brief explanation of Dart, CMake
and itk for those interested in knowing a bit more about this. Though not
in a position to endorse the aforementioned software, it seems to me that
something along this line would offer many advantages to the Care2x project
as a whole. If someone in the group knows of an easier/better software than
this to ease the workload, please bring it forward.

All the very best,
Daniel

Hi,

Implying that those who have now decided to risking money and reputation for
implementing care2x in hospitals are guinea pigs is also an insult to them.

Antas, what is happening with you?
