I have my "puck" type transducer mounted against the hull of my 
74 C27 in a pice of pvc pipe that is filled with Vasoline.  Works 
great and as it is against the hull stays cool and doesn't melt and 
make a mess (at least up here in the Pacific Northwest).  

Now Ralph I don't want any comments about why I had a tub of 
Vasoline on my boat!
