More thanks for those that contributed after the first volley.
Especially Michael Smith.
I am aware that there is more than money; that's why I took this in
the first place. I mean, I am all of 6 months out of college and I am
the webmaster for the largest organization of it's kind in Canada and
manage 8 domains. That's got to be worth something right there.
However, I'd like to be able to pay my student loans and get at least
a modicum of respect/appreciation.
These are things I will be sharing with my supervisor.
I will be spending most of the day today preparing for this discussion
with my supervisors, armed with the wisdom all have given me. I am
grateful.
For the fellow who asked how I can live on $10/hr CDN; That's only 27
hours a week too with no benefits. So that's about $12,000 a year. How
do I do it? My wife is a developer/sys admin as well at $12/hr
,35hrs/wk.(Recruiters take note of that - think package deal!!) We are
masters of frugality, drive a 15 year old car, eat lots of rice,
oatmeal and pasta and pray a lot!
Ultimately I would like to work for company that really makes a
difference, provides professional development and pays decent.
Professional development is probably highest on my list, then decent
salary ($40K/yr would be nice) and then the socially
conscious/altruistic stuff.
But I ramble. Thanks again folks. This list is great!
