Guy,
I grew up in Northwest Ontario (Red Lake, Thunderbay and Fort Francis) so I
have an idea of what its like to live in the area. That low pay rate isn't
worth it - you cannot live on that low pay rate - especially when gas is
over $4 a gallon ($1 and change per liter) and milk is about that expensive
as well. If you two are willing to move, say to Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton,
almost anywhere in Southern Ontario, you'd probably triple or quadruple your
income. Heck even in Manitoba you could easily triple your income.
$10/hr CDN (about $6.50 US) is really ridicules, you're doing stuff that
people pay around ten times that amount. Simply put, you are being
exploited. Profit or non-profit exploitation is still exploitation. I'd give
them a choice, either a big pay increase or they can try and con some other
person to take the job.
regards,
larry
