I too agree here. I make more, by about $20KUSD, than any of the people who
I work with, except one. I make double some of their salaries. I work for a
private university in Houston, Texas. I do not have a degree (bunch of
hours, never seemed to finish, always getting hired away from school. Ex Air
Force avionics guy). That irks some of the people, there is an underecurrent
of resentment. I would bet that is happening to you.

Sounds like are getting jerked around. Now I would RESENT that. You are
being way undervalued. The cool thing is that you can at least sit back and
take your time looking. Don't do something rash, like making an ultimatum or
telling them you are looking. You owe it to yourself to take care of
yourself. (Read some Ayn Rand). You do not owe an employer, who pays you a
third of your value, a thing (IMHO), especially if they won't negotiate. You
can like what they do. That's fine. Just time to move on.

There are many companies in Houston that would pay you 30-40k entry level
for what you say you know. Maybe Canada is just not ready for someone with
your skill sets ;).
