> And nope...I never said I knew better what to do with other people's hard
earned money.
> Where did I say that?
When you made the argument for all those social services. Those are paid
for with tax dollars, and every penny of tax is collected at the point of a
gun by people who claim that they know better what to do with taxpayers'
money than the taxpayers themselves. If you don't think that taxes are
collected at the point of a gun, try not paying them and then press the
issue until they show up with two dozen jackbooted soldiers wearing black
flak jackets and carrying loaded, cocked-and-locked submachine guns (and
they will-- mostly Heckler & Koch MP5's these days, like the ones they used
to extract Elian Gonzales, some of them even noise suppressed), stun
grenades, riot guns, etc. I mean, that's the way it has to be, but please
do understand the nature of it all.
Basically, the government says, "You will NOT be allowed to keep that money
you earned, because WE have decided that it is more important to take it and
pay to teach that recovering drug addict over there how to push a broom
across a floor via this nifty new jobs training program (which only cost
$10,000,000 to implement!). By the way, we also have tons of other services
that you're not even aware of, and some of which would really piss you off
if you knew that we're paying for them with your money. What? You have
children to put through school? Sorry, he needs to learn how to push that
broom, so we're enrolling him right now for $12,000.00. Huh? What do we do
if he never shows up? That's not our problem. Why are you being so selfish
and mean-spirited? He's a poor recovering substance abuser with no skills!
Huh? The decisions he's made during the thirty-six years he's lived so far?
That's none of your concern, sir, but paying for him to get his 'fair share'
_is_, so fork it over, and I mean like NOW, buddy, lest you want some real
trouble to come your way. You see that guy dressed in black out there? The
one carrying the-- yeah, that one. Wanna meet him, up close and
personal-like? I didn't think so. THAT'S better. Yes, yes-- make it out
to 'Internal Rev-' okay, you remember. Sure, no problem. And have a nice
day. His name? Who? The guy with the broom or the guy with the submachine
gun? The broom? I have no idea. Who cares-- he's just an icon."
> 'Attacking' you personally, ad homonym or otherwise wasn't my intention at
all.
Understood, and thank you.
