> Is that all you can say?
No, it's just a question that let's me know the true vantage point from
which your opinions come.
> Can you refute that what I suggest will not be the outcome based on the
premise you've put forward in previous posts for
> Libertarianism?
Yes, and I have. Please see my response to Mr. Allred's kind reply to me.
Please don't take this the wrong way, but your opinions appear (_appear_,
mind you) to be from the vantage point of "doing without" and resenting it.
It sounds like an outsider's point of view, meaning "outside" the world of
capitalism. You appear to not know how the world of money and capitalism
really work, and how everything good in the world springs forth from it.
> No I am not a communist.
> And so what if I were?
> Would that change anything I've said?
Yes, it would. It would show what your motivations are, and reveal your
true intentions toward those who produce. It would show that your true
intentions were to enslave those who can and give the fruits of their labor
to those who can't and/or won't.
> Communism was another theory that seemed great on paper, but failed
miserably when put into practice.
SOUNDED GREAT ON PAPER?! Jamming a gun down someone's throat and demanding
that they surrender everything to a dictatorship (despite all claims to the
counter) on pain of death or other punishment, then placing prison walls and
machine gun nests around the entire country so no one could "opt out" of the
system?
And you call the protection of individual freedom that Libertarianism
upholds to be a bad thing? I think I now see why.
> I think Libertarianism would fall victim to the same fate.
Actually, the only ones who would fall victim to anything are those who
voluntarily set themselves up as victims and don't have a huge support
system in place to cushion them when they "pratfall." Genuinely needy
people would find refuge in the religious organization of their choice... or
would you claim that the Churches, Synogogues, and Mosques are too feeble to
support their flocks, or that their flocks are so unaccomplished in life
that they need more support than their organizations can give?
This religious support is one of the reasons why they are not taxed. And by
the way, the nationwide sales tax system would work fine for non-profits.
They would be given wholesaler/manufacturer status, so they would not be
taxed as end-users, then their recipients (their flock) would not be taxed
when they receive goods and services because no money would change hands,
and those goods and services would be considered valid contributions.
By the way, Gel, under your "progressive" system, how would you handle it if
I didn't want to work and produce tax revenue? What if I just said, "That's
enough! I want to be the recipient of what other people produce for a
change. I'm going to get myself fired and apply for every government
assistance program under the sun, then just kick back and survive on what
other people have worked very hard to produce for me. And if there's an
assistance cutoff date, I'll ignore it and just continue to live on the
dole, or become homeless and let others worry about my fate that way."
How would your system handle such a thing? Got the answer? Okay, now
extend it further to more and more people just saying "you know, work is
very overrated. People don't have it so good in other countries, so I'll
just live according to their standards and scale back a bit so I can live
off the X hundred dollars I'll receive per month from the government." At
what point does your system fall apart because there aren't enough tax
dollars to steal from the producers to give to the non-producers? And by
the way, the point at which your system falls apart is called "Communism,"
because that is the point at which _everything_ the producers produce is
confiscated by the government and redistributed the way the government sees
fit.
Please answer this question directly and don't deflect it. In forty years
I've never had anyone in your shoes answer this question directly. Go
ahead-- be a trend setter.
