Now that I'm home it looks like the "Backup" facility in steam does nothing more than chunk your files into CD-(or DVD)-burnable bites. It doesn't actually burn anything.

You dont know how pissed i would have been if i had to redownload hl2 the day before launch. But i got it to work :> On Tue, 16 Nov 2004 16:32:14 -0400, Jim Davis <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >whats the back up option?? > >can i burn it now to a cd? > > Honestly I've not used it - I just Ghost my whole drive so it's in there. They're all clearly labled and aside from the size (something like HL2 will require either one DVD or 5 cds) aren't anything special. > > When you want to rebuild or move them to another computer just disconnect Steam, move the backup files into the cache folder and then connect Steam. > > I'm at the office so I might have the folder name wrong, but it should be easy enough to find (it's the six Gig folder in "Program Files"). ;^) > > Jim Davis > > ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Special thanks to the CF Community Suite Gold Sponsor - CFHosting.net http://www.cfhosting.net Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:136448 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
