But while we might question it we: 1) Couldn't generally quantify it as there are tremendously successful family units of all types and sizes including homosexual ones. Each case would have to be considered individually. There are no studies I'm aware of that show any particular family structure "better" or "worse" for children. The deciding factor is always the quality of care and attention regardless of who is providing it. 2) Couldn't label marriage because of it as the definition of marriage (either secularly or religiously) does include the existence of children.
