You actually limit the flow, not stop it. Without oxygen the muscle needs to find another way to get the "energy" needed... lactic acid is the result. That lactic acid burn can last different lengths in different people; it all depends on size of muscle, intensity of stress on the muscle, and how receptive your body is to the trauma. > As a skier I trained two ways. Read up on all the myths behind lactic acid "burn". That is actually more harmful than good! All that undo strain on joints and tendons can be very painful over time. > I don't know how long it takes to flush the acid for > non-skiers but it only took seconds for me:) 15-25 minutes depending upon intensity of workout. Just because you don't feel the burn, does not mean the lactic acid is gone! > Point is if someone complains they're sore after working out > I imagine it's ripped tissue and not the burn of acid. Agreed. However, there is no way to discern between the two in the initial cool down period. I'd say after an hour or so, any soreness is from damaged tissue. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:157751 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
