Well, I hoped it wouldn't happen, especially this early, but my
16-year-old, who just got her license recently, was backing the Durango
out of the driveway. We have a double-wide drive that is shared with
the neighbor's vacant house, so there was plenty of room for two, maybe
even three, vehicles to pass in our drive.

Well, my other daughter's friend was just dropped off by her mom to go
to camp with my other daughter. She had parked in such as way that I
couldn't get my '86 Corvette into the carport where I normally park.
So, I parked at the end of the drive where there was plenty of room for
people to get around me.

I was on my laptop when my 16-year-old daughter was backing out of the
driveway. She then ran up to the house and told my wife, "I just ran
into Dad's car!"

I thought to myself, "Oh, SHIT!" Then I thought she was joking. Well,
my wife ran out and was talking to her so I knew it was for real. I ran
out and looked and she had backed into the front, driver's side fender.
It left paint on the hood and fender.

Luckily, I was able to rub the paint off with wax, but it broke the
fiberglass wheel well away from the body. A few fender washers put it
mostly back together. The only evidence are a few little spots where
the fiberglass was broken right in the fender area.

My emotions were going wild. I should yell, because, at least, it was
our vehicle and we didn't have to pay for someone else's repair work,
but on the other hand, she had just been bitching for weeks because I
took the CD player from the Durango and put it in my Corvette.

I had told her she didn't need the distraction and, unfortunately, I
proved myself right.

Well, it's all minor, but I'm sure she will remember it for a while.
