I blame attention span problems on the ages prior to school. I never had
the attention span problems, but growing up I'd often being doing the
same thing for several hours at a time anyway.

I didn't really watch much TV, there were a couple of shows I liked,
however most of the time I was doing something else, like playing with
legos for hours at a time.

I blame attention span issues on television cartoons that only last 7
minutes and don't require young kids to pay attention or to keep up
through commercials. If you want kids to have reasonable attention spans
early they have to learn that while they are very young.

maybe so. In any event, I would not consider that amount of time
disproportionately small for a five year old. He would be getting quite
a
bit less at public school and there is the matter of attention span to
consider.
