After you add up the total cost difference, at $2.00 a gallon for gas it would have taken us like 7 years to break even. And that doesn't include higher costs for servicing and part replacement.
I had a similar calculation between a new Corolla and the Prius, but the gas is $2.80 here in California, and do you think the price of gas will do much but go UP during the next 7 years?
