Yeah, I know it isn't true but around here it seems like I go up more
than I go down.

Yeah, it also depends greatly on the area, hilly areas aren't very well
suited as I understand.

If you go up and down equally, it is not so bad.  I got the best gas
mileage of my trip going up and down the grapevine to get to LA last
week.  Downs are good, no gas used.  Ups are not so good.  So more up
then down would not be well suited.
