Correct - the explanation I've been told is that Protestants do not worship using a crucifix with the image of Jesus on it because Jesus was resurrected and is no longer on the cross.
Catholics and other more "orthodox" Christian sects do in fact have the image of Christ on the Cross itself. Whatever the situation, the symbolism of the cross is sacred to all Christans, and I would find that the cartoon is sacrilegious. It's an equivalent of the "I'm not touching you!" game we played as children. - Matt ----- Original Message ----- From: "G" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, February 08, 2006 10:25 AM Subject: Re: The Double standard: Dutch paper refused Jesus cartoons > the crucifix is indeed a sacred symbol to Christians.
