You implied that there were no $10/hr car washing jobs in Kentucky. What I am saying is that those specific jobs (referring back to my original post) are in other locations. This isn't a problem specific to Kentucky, or even the U.S. It is a general issue of friction in the efficient allocation of labor resources in a market economy. Take the automobile industry. The Rust Belt states have been losing people for years because of the decline of U.S. auto manufacturing. Those people didn't just disappear off the face of the planet. Many of them moved to other parts of the country to find other jobbs.
What I am suggesting is that migrant workers tend to go to much further lengths to take the currently available jobs, whatever they may be and whereever they may be. Whereever they go in the U.S. is the same trip- somewhere away from home. Hence the term migrant workers.
