That is patently false. The Patriot Act has specific language in Sec 412 that deals with habeas corpus.
As for the bad guys down in Gitmo, the big problem now is that we want to release a bunch of them but we can't because if we send them back to their countries of origin they will almost certainly be tortured and maybe executed. So we are holding on to them instead. What should we do, give them bus fare to Havana and send them on their way? Rhetoric, that's funny. The left-minded folks on the list seem to be bringing up this idea of a looming fascist dictatorship in the U.S. quite a lot lately. Where is that kind of talk coming from? It just isn't worthy of serious discourse.
