This not a black and white case of either you believe life trumps all or
not. You are an adult fully capable of making your own decisions and
understanding the consequences of your decisions and how they will impact
you. In this case we are talking about a child whose decision is presumably
being made for him and is presumably not fully capable of understanding the
consequences. Unfortunately there is no scientific way (that I am aware of)
that can determine whether a child is able to make their own decisions, that
is why there is a legal age of consent. In this case, IMHO, life trumps
parental beliefs.
