We have been to Cancun and had no problems. Everyone was very polite and
friendly.
We are planning our next trip to Cabo San Lucas in July.

It definitely depends on the town, but the disturbing trend is that there
are now organized gangs that kidnap Americans as a business. That has been
going on for years in Mexico City with everyone, not just foreigners, but it
is a recent phenomenon in Baja.

As for DC being more dangerous than Baja, I agree, Congress is a menace to
us all!
