Electricity has been around for ... well probably since The Big Bang.
Tesla figured out generation and ac/dc like 100 years ago and some
english understudy who didn't know math came up with field theory like
150 years ago. Maybe more.

Anyway the point is that we haven't figured out how to power cars with
fabrege eggs and eagle feathers yet either, but that doesn't mean we
should. Not that it wouldn't be cool. It just wouldn't solve a damn
thing.

The problem is that electricity has to come somewhere. Right now that
"where" is a non-renewable energy source - gasoline - and even a fully
electric car would need energy from a non-renewable resource.

Hell, the Japanese had coal burning cars during WWII. Why not
research that? Or, more seriously, why not a natural gas car? How
about a natural gas hybrid? That solves nothing too, but at least the
US is sitting on assloads of NG which is worth getting when gas is
$2000/gallon and we've got no re-newable energy.

Or, why not just invent a production worthy re-newable energy source
like bio-diesel?

If you think, btw, that solar power is EVER going to power a car in
the near future, read the sailing forums. You'll get a sense of how
much energy you need to regenerate just to get 80hp. I can save you
time though - not. gonna. work.
