I've done the 'fat adapt' thing a few times which is basically keeping
carbs ~30g/day for 2 weeks, and then every 5 days with weekends free.

When combined with weight training & cardio and a protein & good fats
heavy (60%) calorie deficit diet - spread a across the day - you will
burn fat like a blow torch.

The downside is the 2 week induction phase - you will feel like sh1t
on the last few days of the second week; most people quit here.

When I first did this, I used my first free weekend for donuts, pizza,
etc.  It ruled.  Next weekend I did the same thing, but didn't really
seem fun.  Third weekend I just did nothing because I had no craving.
4th weekend and on I just used to eat a calorie surplus of good stuff.

Of course since then - due to vacations I've slowly gotten carb
adapted again so it's time for a restart, but now all my cravings are
back :(
