Yes but...Expedia isn't checking and double checking every property that is posted on their site.
It's impossible for them to do that. All they can do is have some clauses in their agreement with the Hotels etc. that they agree the information they put up on Expedia is an accurate representation, allowing Expedia to exact some sort of penalty if it isn't.
