Let's go to the report! ------------- (1.) " ... George Tenet was briefed regularly regarding threats ... relating to Usama Bin Ladin. He in turn met daily with President Bush, who was briefed ... through what is known as the President's Daily Brief (PDB)." (2.) "Each PDB consists of a series of six to eight relatively short articles or briefs covering a broad array of topics; CIA staff decides which subjects are the most important on any given day" (3.) *** "There were more than 40 intelligence articles in the PDBs from January 20 to September 10, 2001, that related to Bin Ladin."*** (4.) [Here's where your lie comes from, Sammy] "During the spring and summer of 2001, President Bush had on several occasions asked his briefers whether any of the threats pointed to the United States." [See? He didn't ask for a memo, but simply whether the UBL threats he was hearing about "pointed to the US". So you're wrong. And now that you know that, if you say it again, you're a liar too.] (5.) "... the CIA decided to write a briefing article [THE CIA DECIDED - NOT BUSH] summarizing its understanding of this danger ... The result was an article in the August 6 Presidential Daily Brief titled "Bin Ladin Determined to Strike in US." President Bush said the article told him that al Qaeda was dangerous ... said Bin Ladin had long been talking about his desire to attack America ... he did not recall discussing the August 6 report with the Attorney General or whether Rice had done so. ----------------------------- So by Bush's own words to the 9/11 commission he knew about UBL, he knew about "his desire to attack America" but he never discussed it with the AG nor his Nat'l Security Advisor! Not even a, "hey should we ramp up about this?" Nope. So you see? It's really a leadership and judgment question. If your expectation is that a leader hear specific data on specific events which conveys obvious outcomes, and then he sign-off on the obvious action, well Bush is competent - barely - at that. For me that's not leadership, that's signing for packages at the front desk. Although I wouldn't trust Bush to do that either. But that's me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
