I agree with you. You must suffer the consequences of your actions. No
whether you are responsible for what happened is another story.

my point is simply - everyone is accountable for their actions. and its
not
about blame.

you leave your wallet out, someone steals $100. oops. you're out a $100.

action ==> consequence. You didn't steal it, but you're out $100.

and my point isn't about blame. it's just a real life statement about
consequences. You paint a landscape with your actions. and accept the
consequences. It's not a morality statement - it is just that what you
do -
directly influences what happens.

As an aside - I am usually happy leaving money on my desk at work and
places
like that - I think it's worth the $20 or whatever it might cost me to
know
whether or not someone would steal from me.

Using your wallet analogy. Let's say there is $100 in the wallet - left
out
in the open. Somebody wanders by and scoops the money. Who's
responsible?
Let's say that $100 is mine on loan to you. Who's responsible?

Not my analogy, but I would be responsible to pay you back, however not
responsible that someone took the money. Am I responsible if someone
breaks into my car and steals it and runs over someone. Nope. They
are. Would I be responsible if I gave them the keys. Nope. Now if I
gave them they keys knowing they were incapacitated somehow then you
might be able to assign some blame to me.

But you ARE responsible for your OWN actions.

I don't want to get into the morality of the thread, but there are two
parties involved in the distribution of illegal materials. Period.

guilt or wrong doing by another party does not absolve responsibility.
