Right, it's not your FAULT, but I would still say you were RESPONSIBLE for
not taking proper precautions to prevent it's theft and unauthorized use.
Those two words do not mean the same thing.

Maybe not legally, but if I would still hold you morally responsible for not
taking better care to protect something so dangerous.

Would you think it's OK for the government to leave nuclear warheads in a
place where another country could easily access them?  If someone managed to
detonate one and kill thousands of people, would you hold the government
responsible for their carelessness?  I know I would.

Granted, nuclear detonations is a far cry from movie swapping in terms of
consequences (massive loss of life vs. Lucas and co losing a few bucks), but
the principles involved do not change.
