Hate absolutely has consequences. I, for instance, am unlikely to eat a Chik-fil-a. Well, I was unlikely to anyway because we don't have them here and I don't eat fast food. Regardless, they would not be getting my business based on their stances and behavior.
That is completely and utterly different from saying that they should not have equal protection under the law because of their views.
