Well, on the other hand, when you bail someone out of jail, they kind of are
youor responsibility. You are vouching for the fact they don't represent a
threat to yourself or the community.

I dunno... I could go either way on this one. I guess it all depends on
whether or not the guy knew his friend was going to drive or not.

The wreck was 3 hours after Powell dropped his friend off, who had just
gotten out of jail. They usually keep you in jail til you sober up and
he obviously had time to go drink some more before the wreck. Even if
this Powell man had taken his friend home, I am about 90% sure he
would've left anyway to go drink some more. I think it is ridiculous to
charge this man.

Hmmmm...I am not sure that I agree or disagree with this. On one hand,
if I know a friend of mine is drunk and may get in a wreck and kill
himself or others I would take the keys and not let him drive. But if I
feel that he is not very intoxicated, and he is not slurring his speech
and seems normal, I might. I have 3 kids, so I am more than likely going
to choose the the first one. It is just like a bar that lets a person
drive that is too drunk to do so, they can be fined for allowing it.
