What about their freedom? Even though they are cared for and well fed, they still are only allowed what their human masters give them. Rocks, trees, people staring at them. Man if I was a tiger I want to roam around free. I don't know if animals have these kind of feelings, but if they do, I hope you would disagree with zoos.
THink of it this way. An alien species invades earth. They are quite kind. They put us in this big Biodome where we can be humans and do our thing, while they study us, drop in a few chicks for us to mate with so we don't have to look, give us our food, does mostly everything for us. Wonder what it must feel like! -----Original Message----- From: Larry Lyons [mailto:llyons@;ebstor.com] Sent: Tuesday, November 05, 2002 7:56 AM To: CF-Community Subject: RE: omg, VOMIT jellybeans?? Kevin, First off I am in no way a supporter of any group like PETA or other radical animal rights groups. If anything I am very much against their agenda. It also depends on what type of zoo you're talking about. Many zoos are quite good, the state and municipally sponsored zoos, and similar organizations like the National Zoo are very active in conservation, and attempt to make the exhibits into an appropriate environment for the animals. Most of the privately run zoos, typically the roadside attraction kind, are little better than hellholes. The animals are inadequately housed and fed, mistreated and in some cases actually tortured. Frankly these private zoos really should be run out of business. They belong to the same ignorant primitive era as freak shows and dog fighting. larry -- Larry C.
