: But how many people around the world still think that Charon ferries the : dead to the underworld?
I think you're missing the point. Yes, some religions die out. In the face of the insane number of ideas that the world's human population can churn out, most ideas are going to die. The rest either become popular or gather a cult following. So we get either Titanic or Buckaroo Bonzai. :-) However, many go unchanged for generation after generation. Hinduism IIRC predates Western history by quite a bit, and therefore predates the recording of the idea of Charon and the Styx. However, it still adheres to original scripture. : >>Disagree. My people have lived through various Christian : purges, attacks : and : >>attempts at conversion. We're not even going to talk about Islam. Point : is, : >>we're still here. : : Yeah, but what if the aliens had mind control rays and death goggles? ;-) If we change our beliefs because of mind control rays, then they aren't really our beliefs anymore, are they? You're applying a technological answer to a faith-based question. Oh, wait. You were kidding. n/m. --BenD ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?forumid=5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/index.cfm?method=subscribe&forumid=5 Get the mailserver that powers this list at http://www.coolfusion.com Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
