enjoyed the fact that he actually wrote dialog for the sea creatures
instead of (like many authors have done) made them dumb machines just
following orders.
It added a real depth to see that his power was really just
communication, not command. and that (at least to sea creatures) he had
to be both charning and persuasive. ;^)
