I doubt anybody disagrees with you.
The problem is how to make sure that everybody who *can* support himself *does* support himself, while at the same time making sure that those who *can't* support themselves are being taken care of. Somehow society has to find a balance between both, but I don't think any society has found the proper balance yet.
