I've heard that before and it's never been true.  The said the same thing
about "Splinter Cell" and it looks and plays great on PS2.  Prince of Persia
is another case were it looks and plays great on both.

The PS2 can't be judged to its "power" as other systems simply because of
its architecture.  For example the Splinter Cell arguments all revolved
around the lighting effects which "couldn't run" on the Emotion engine.
well, they were right - most of the lighting effects came from the vector
units (unique to the PS2).  Same thing with load screens - people said that
good looking games MUST have huge load times on PS2 because of it's low
memory compared to the Xbox but then Jak and Daxter and Ratchet and Clank
came out: huge worlds with essentially no load times (sometimes due to
technology sometimes due to storytelling slight of hand).

I also remember that "Munch's Oddysee" was supposedly "undoable" on PS2 and
that they they had "hit a wall" with development beyond which they couldn't
squeeze out any more.  Some of the launch games looked better than that.

In short while I think that the Xbox is a great piece of hardware I don't
think it's SO MUCH greater that any game "can't be done" on the same
generational platform.  There's simply not that kind of separation between
them when taken as unified platforms.

In other words it is "better" just not so much better as to be a forgone
conclusion.

Fable could only be delivered using the Xbox.
The PS2 just can't handle it.
So as a developer, the concern is not always selling 5 million units as
opposed to 1.2 million.

If I were a developer, I think I would stand the most chance of making
money by targeting a platform that had lots of users, which in the end
is really all that matters.
