BTW my diet recommends having lean protein snacks available for mid-morning and mid-afternoon.

I've been having things like peanuts/cashews, roasted soy nuts,
edamame, Laughing Cow Light reduced-fat soft cheese on celery,
Mozzarella string cheese and bags of veggies, etc.

Yes, according to South Beach Diet, heavy carbs can mess up your body's response to insulin. Also, it causes "spikes" in blood sugar which then make you crash, so you "yo-yo".
