Yeah. Pretty much every conference-type venue will work on a "Per
delegate, per day" basis.

Not taking into account VAT (or whatever local charges you may get in
the US), the cost may be something like £50 per delegate, per day.

So, say you're running a 3 day conference. That equates to £150 per
delegate. Say you're after 400 delegates. That's £60,000. Depending on
how far in advance you book the venue, you define how much of a
deposit you have to pay. If you're lucky, 10% but that's still £6,000

If you charged £200 per ticket and you get all 400 people showing up
that's £80,000, which obviously covers the venue cost (even before
sponsorship kicks in) at the most basic level.

Of course, I'm really simplifying things here but this is my
experience of organising Scotch on the Rocks last year, and again for
next year.

And just FYI, last year Scotch on the Rocks ran over two days, and
cost £25. Conferences don't have to be expensive.... it's all the
"fluff" that makes them that way.
