OK. So you installed an operating system, and you initially ran "crap cleaner". Presumably, you meant this: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Now, I'm not the brightest guy in the world, but it looks to me like that's meant for cleaning things off your system that accumulate over time. Why the hell would you run that right after installing your OS - before you have any crap to clean? Oh, and you might be interested to know that they've apparently "Fixed problem with Vista UAC compatibility" as of 16 May. > I run ie7 now on xp and found a program that installs other > version or the previous crap ie's on there as well.... does > that satisfy you your heiness? You don't need to satisfy me; I'm just curious when I read things that don't make any sense. Carry on. > Why yes it does, it will ask you for your admin password ONE > F*CKING TIME, if i recall correctly vista never asked for a > password it just asked you to click on yes or no, over & over > & over again. Which is really good security. If you log in as an administrative user with Vista, it will give you a yes/no prompt when administrative action is required. You've already entered your administrative password when you logged in. Why would entering your password again make a difference? If you log in as a non-administrative user with Vista, it will give you a dialog box that requires you to enter administrative credentials (username/password) when administrative action is required. If you do a bunch of things that require administrative action, you will get prompted every time. As you should. Just because I wanted to do the first action, doesn't mean I want to do the second. If I do something that inadvertently or maliciously uses administrative credentials, like double-click on an infected attachment, I don't want it to run just because half an hour ago I did something that required administrative credentials. > After I bought vista I posted a video of it on here of me > trying to run crap cleaner, I had to answer yes 8 frickin times > for it to run, every frickin time i ran it and it never asked > for my admin password just a dumbass popup that you clicked yes > or no to. See the ccleaner.com bug fix listed above. > well thats rather sad that you have to do it. I did however > turn it off and magically it turns itself right back on, > kinda like how there firewall will do. It's sad that you have to disable the feature that improves security? I don't even know what you mean by that. I haven't had any problem with this turning itself back on. I haven't had any problem with the firewall turning itself back on either. Not that I do either often, but I have done both before. > Well unfortunately windows needs to be cleaned constantly and > I do have to run crap cleaner. If you install crap constantly, you will need to clean up constantly. > Umm actually dave i dont see where i have been bitching about > my "windows problems" I was just agreeing with jenny & will > that vista is a piece of crap but you ran off itnot fantasy > land with it and try to change the subject like you do when > you get backed up. You wrote that you bought Vista to run in Parallels on your Mac, but couldn't stand it, so you threw it away. That sounds like your problem. If you think that's changing the subject, you shouldn't have mentioned it in the first place. And, if you didn't have Windows problems on your own, how could you make a recommendation to others? > I run parallels because I have to, if you are gunna nitpick > over it then fine but the bottom line was this. And with > the limited amount of time i spent with it it proved > worthless too me. I am not you dave watts i dont want to > spend anymore of my day then I have too on windows or > tweaking it to be "safe". I don't spend much time tweaking Windows. Not on my workstations. I install it, I create a non-admin account for myself, I add that account to the "network configuration operators" group, and then I use it. I switch to an admin account when I install software. I don't run "crap cleaners", either. And I don't need to. You spend more time whining about Windows than I do tweaking it. > But obviously its just me and no one else has had any > problems with vista... I guess thats why its in the "blow > out" bin in a lot of stores already. Lots of people have had lots of problems with Vista. Your problems, however, seem to be PEBKAC-related. Maybe you should stick to writing with crayons.
